MINUTES OF THE MEETING OF THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES

                              July 21, 2010

 

The regular meeting of the Board of Trustees of the Northwest Mosquito Abatement District was held 7:30 pm Wednesday, July 21, 2010 at 147 West Hintz Road, Wheeling, IL.

 

There being a presence of a quorum, Arnold D. Kincaid, President called the meeting to order.

 

Trustees present:  Arnold D. Kincaid, President; Daniel R. Ansani, Vice President and Assistant Secretary; Richard A. David, Secretary and Assistant Treasurer; William Schneck, Treasurer; Karen V. Mills, Vice President and Assistant Secretary/Treasurer.

 

Also present:  Donald Veverka, Attorney; Michael Szyska, Director.

 

The minutes of the June 2010 meeting were read. William Schneck made a motion to accept the minutes as read and Daniel R. Ansani seconded the motion.

 

The Secretary called the roll and all ayes had been cast for approval of the motion and thereby declared the motion carried.

 

The Treasurer's Report for June 2010 was presented and all checks were approved for payment.  Richard A. David made a motion to accept the report as read and Karen V. Mills seconded the motion.

Mr. Veverka mentioned that the attorneys will need the attachments for the Treasurers Statement.  The Prevailing Wage Ordinance has been filed with the appropriate agencies and published in a local newspaper.  Mr. Veverka is waiting for an update on the Village Green vs Arlington Heights lawsuit.

 

Mr. Szyska gave the Trustees the draft for the fiscal year-end audit.

 

Mr. Szyska highlighted a couple of items from the staff reports.  The District has sprayed the entire District at least once and the nuisance mosquito counts are dropping.  Six batches of mosquitoes have tested positive for WNV within the District and conditions are perfect (hot & dry) for WNV to increase.

 

Mr. Szyska mentioned that the District purchased 25 backpack sprayers and also purchased some Zenivex.  The field testing of the Natular has begun.

 

Mr. Szyska gave the Trustees a copy of his comments on the EPA NPDES permit.

 

There being no further business to come before the Board a motion was made to adjourn and it passed unanimously.
