MINUTES OF THE MEETING OF THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES

                           September 17, 2008

 

The regular meeting of the Board of Trustees of the Northwest Mosquito Abatement District was held Wednesday, September 17, 2008 at 7:30 pm.

 

There being a presence of a quorum, Arnold D. Kincaid, President called the meeting to order.

 

Trustees present:  Arnold D. Kincaid, President;  Daniel R. Ansani, Vice President and Assistant Secretary; Richard A. David, Secretary and Assistant Treasurer; William Schneck, Treasurer; Karen V. Mills, Vice President and Assistant Secretary/Treasurer.

 

Also present:  Donald Veverka, Attorney; Michael Szyska, Director.

 

The minutes of the August 2008 meeting were read. Daniel R. Ansani made a motion to accept the minutes as read and William Schneck seconded the motion.

 

The Secretary called the roll and all ayes had been cast for approval of the motion and thereby declared the motion carried.

 

The Treasurer's Report for August 2008 was presented and all checks were approved for payment.  Richard A. David made a motion to accept the report as read and Karen V. Mills seconded the motion.

Mr. Veverka mentioned that the Treasurers Statement needs to be signed at the October Board meeting and the Financial Statement needs to be printed in the newspaper.  The County says the tax bills might be mailed by the end of the September or in October.

 

Mr. Veverka gave the Trustees the revised Rules and Regulations to be finalized at the next Board meeting.  Also the Executive Session minutes need to be reviewed per the Open Meetings Act.

 

Mr. Szyska updated the Board on District operations.  The lab is still finding WNV infected mosquitoes.  The 7-10” of rain received last weekend plus the rain on the 8th is going to cause a floodwater mosquito hatch.  Crews are finding larvae.  Some mosquitoes will go into diapause but between the WNV infected mosquitoes and the rain the District will probably have to adulticide if the weather allows.

 

The District has received the new sprayers.

 

Mr. Szyska and Mr. Holub from DVMAD will be meeting with the insurance agent and representatives from AIG next month.

 

Mr. Szyska has not received the letter from the US Bank attorneys regarding the Repo Sweep agreement.  He has also not heard from the group who wanted to annex to the District.

 

The Board opened the following bids for two 2009 Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD pickup trucks and one 2009 Chevrolet Silverado 3500HD pickup truck.

After discussion and pending a review of the specifications Karen V. Mills made a motion to purchase two 2500HD trucks and one 3500HD truck from Bill Stasek Chevrolet.  The motion was seconded by Richard A. David.

 

The Secretary called the roll and all ayes had been cast for approval of the motion and thereby declared the motion carried.

 

There being no further business to come before the Board a motion was made to adjourn and it passed unanimously.
