MINUTES
OF THE MEETING OF THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES
September
16, 2009
The
regular meeting of the Board of Trustees of the Northwest Mosquito Abatement
District was held Wednesday, September 16, 2009 at 7:30 pm.
There
being a presence of a quorum, Arnold D. Kincaid, President called the meeting
to order.
Trustees
present: Arnold D. Kincaid,
President; Daniel R. Ansani, Vice
President and Assistant Secretary; Richard A. David, Secretary and Assistant
Treasurer; William Schneck, Treasurer; Karen V. Mills, Vice President and
Assistant Secretary/Treasurer.
Also
present: Donald Veverka, Attorney;
Michael Szyska, Director.
The
minutes of the August 2009 meeting were read. Karen V. Mills made a motion to accept
the minutes as read and William Schneck seconded the motion.
The
Secretary called the roll and all ayes had been cast for approval of the motion
and thereby declared the motion carried.
The
Treasurer's Report for August 2009 was presented and all checks were approved
for payment. Daniel R. Ansani made a
motion to accept the report as read and Karen V. Mills seconded the motion.

Mr.
Veverka mentioned that the Treasurer’s Statement will be signed at the October
meeting. The fiscal year-end audit must
be published before the end of October.
The County anticipates that the taxes will be due sometime in November. At the next Board meeting the Board will
review the minutes from the Executive Sessions.
Mr.
Szyska highlighted several items from the staff reports. The remaining seasonal employees will be
released at the end of next week except for the lab assistants. The UST at the Bartlett facility now complies
with the new regulations.
Mr.
Szyska mentioned that there will be truck bids to open at the October
meeting. The District will be replacing
3 trucks. The District will also replace
some sprayers. Mr. Szyska explained some
changes by the FCC to narrow the band width for radios by 2013 which will
require replacing most of the radios. Mr. Szyska and Mr. Thennisch are meeting with
some distributors about the changes, GPS capabilities, the new digital radios
and the costs. DesPlaines Valley is converting to a
digital radio system and have several 2 year old radios they would like to
sell. These radios will be compatible
with the narrower band width. After
discussion the approved the purchase if the District stays with an analog narrowband
capable system.
Mr.
Szyska updated the Board on WNV. There
is one human case in Cook County and that is in Chicago. To date there are only 3 in the state.
There
being no further business to come before the Board a motion was made to adjourn
and it passed unanimously.
